Oil cooler replacements tips/tricks

After nearly 2 months of fighting with the dealership I bought my truck from and the warranty company to cover repairs that I was assured would be covered, I'm looking at doing an oil cooler replacement myself. I've read up quite a bit and watched several YouTube videos, but the one thing I'm still not sure about is if I need to do a coolant flush or not. I'll be sticking with the Ford Gold coolant, and will be adding a bypass filter when it goes back together.

I'm sure this has been asked a million times but I wasn't able to find much using search that spoke specifically to this question, so if it's been beat to death my apologies.

Do the flush. Doesn't take that that much time and very little money. You dont know how much silicate dropout you have in there. Evidently you have a good bit to have to do a cooler replacement.

If it's clogged with the Gold do the alkaline flush, not the acid flush, before the work just to get the slime off the water jackets.

Would that be the Restore or Restore Plus?
