Ring and pinion size needed on 2004 Expy...

I have a 2004 Expedition, 4.6 liter, 2 wheel drive. Boneyard says they need the ratio size so I can get a new rear end on truck.

Is he referring to the 8.8 and 9.75 numbers? Also, axle code is H6, if needed.

Thanks,

They would need what rear you have but they also need the ratio. 3:55, 3:73 ect, should be on the tag that is bolted to the diff.

Thanks!

Is it also an 8.8 or 9.75? Or doesn't that matter for what I'm doing?

Yes it does matter so you need the other numbers off the center section to figure out if you have a 8.8" or 9.75". My Ford manual shows either could be under your truck. I know my old 2005 and current 2006 Navigators had the 9.75. Hard to tell from here what's yours is. My best guess is a 4.6L 2wd Expedition has a 8.8", but only guessing.
