If anybody out there can help.
I just bought a truck and i was wondering how to fingure out what kind of diff I have in the rear end and what kind is it..
Any help would be great
Read the tag on the rearend. It should say something like 3 55 88. That would be a open 3.55 8.8" rearend. If it reads 3L55, then it would be a 3.55 limited slip. The first number may be hidden behind the cover bolt.
If you have a 4.2L or 4.6L is it a 8.8". If you have a 5.4L it would be a 9.75".
You can also post the axle code on the doorjam sticker for the ratio.
