Interesting. First time I've heard of it, I'm sure it will be available in later years, but you probably won't see that on a Sync 3 system.
TBH it doesn't seem like a very smart idea, as it is my Android Auto seems to eat quite a bit of battery. It's not uncommon to find my phone hot as hell after being connected for a few minutes.
I did see this article and your limited on phones that are currently compatible. Pixel was one and I forget the other. So if your using say a Galaxy phone your out of luck.
I have the pixel 2 and I have not tested it yet. I also prefer to plug mine in so that way my phone is charging.
This feature is for aftermarket head units from companies like Kenwood, Pioneer, and Alpine.
Kenwood is supporting this feature in some of their new head units but at the moment, they only support a few Android phones.
It might be available for factory systems in the future but as of right now, no vehicle manufacturer supports this feature.
