How many inches drop hitch would be most favorable ...
for a stock height 2018 F350 with 18” Tires

That’s a loaded question. Depends on your trailer. The goal is to keep it level.

Depends on the trailer tongue height. You want the truck and trailer near level when hooked up. On my F350 Dually, most trailers are close to level with a 4 inch drop.

Nice post, good site. My 4 inch drop on my 08 handles just about any trailer.

I don’t have a trailer now. But wanted a hitch thst can be adjusted to handle most normal applications for my stock height ‘18 F350 with 18” wheels.
Perhaps I should have asked what “adjustable” drop hitch would handle most normal applications for my F350.

The top inside of the receiver on my F150 was 19” and the top inside of the receiver on my F250 is 23”. Be aware that 2017+ Super Duty truck’s sit higher than 2016 and earlier. I bought an adjustable hitch that goes to an 8” drop. It arrives today.

I bought a 6" and debated an 8". Glad I didn't get the 8", they get so low to the ground.

I have a 2017 F-350 that I bought the 8" adjustable hitch for. I could have got by with 4" but I think my RV trailer's coupler is a bit taller than most. For my ATV trailer (single axle) a 6" drop is just about right.

Bought a 8" for my 350 DRW, if its too long I will shorten it in the chop saw...

In the lowest setting the clearance to the ground is 9”.

I have a 17 F250. This is the shank I got from Blue OX. Its the 2.5 shank and 9" drop. My WDH head is on the bottom hole and the 31' trailer sits level.

Just a point of clarification - this shank is 9” Long, has 8-3/4” of vertical adjustment, and the drop is 2”.
