Is there anyway to stop the tailgate from locking with the rest of the doors? I have a camera in the tailgate that I don't want to lose if I unplug the connector under the tailgate
White gold is correct. Open up the access panel and just unplug the lock actuator. The harness splits out for the actuator, camera, hook-up light, etc.
Like White Gold suggests, remove the tailgate access panel and disconnect at the lock activator. Make sure you have it in the unlocked state before sealing everything up and closing the tailgate
Thanks guys when you say access panel are you talking about the the large panel when the tail gate is folded down looks like about 10 screws I have a bed rug so not sure how many screws are under the tail gate rug

Yeah the screws at the top section of the tailgate.
