Hello, I own a 2012 Ford Escape Limited with a 2.5 liter 4 cylinder engine with DOHC, my vehicle stalls or idles very oddly or shakes with the defroster on and/or the ac is on. When one or both are off idles fines, but when why are on it idles at 2000 RPM'S then goes down to 500 rpm or lower and either stalls or wants to stall. I have already replaced the throttle body control valve, but does this vehicle have a stand alone air control valve or is this item included in the throttle body ? Could the throttle body be no good ?
The IAC is an integral part of the Throttle Body on that engine and non-replaceable. My thought is the AC compressor or clutch is causing the problem. You state that is happens with the AC or defrosters on and both run the compressor. A compressor that is "dragging" can cause and engine to stall. It may never cause the belt to make a noise.
