I’m new here and my truck a 78 F150 did not come standard with a cigarette lighter and I’m looking to add one I think I found the right pigtail for it at a junkyard but I’m wondering if my harness will have the plugs for the pigtail what the green end of the harness goes into it wasn’t plugged in when I removed the tail
You'll have to dig in there to find it yourself, but I'm pretty sure that Ford would have included the hookup for the lighter, simply because many (most?) of the trucks did come with them. So rather than have different harnesses for such a little thing, they all had the connection for the lighter.
Same way they did for some vehicles that had an optional map light under the dash. The wire was there on all versions, even though very few customers actually ordered the lights.
Crossing fingers for you anyway. Should be reasonably easy to see if it's under there. Well, "easy" being relative to how flexible you are and how you like to stand on your head looking under dashes!
I'm sure someone here will know for sure though. Might even have the coordinates for you to save your head.
Pic is for a reference in what the plug looks like. That harness plugs in to a 12v (hot all the time) 3 hole (black color?) plug sort of behind and a touch left of the glove box. One male end in the 3 hole plug, (short wire) gets plugged into the glove box (on when opened) spring loaded light assembly. Other end (female) goes to the stud on the back of the lighter. Grounding of lighter is being installed in the dash.
If you can not spot the plug from under the dash, take the glove box liner out, to easy find it.

My truck has a single bullet jack with constant 12V+ behind the dash, which hangs over the ashtray, but will not reach the little lug on the lighter outlet/jack a few inches below. I thought that was what Ford used for lighters. I have my radio's yellow Constant Power lead shoved into it.
You can see it in this post, and in other illustrations and pictures:
Hey 77&79F250, Don't know if you can do it or not but maybe add these two pictures to your save file some where or in the technical links? Your pictures have helped me a ton as well so maybe these can help someone as well?
That 3 prong plug you show in your picture over by the glove box. One truck I stripped for parts had that plug. I still have the old wiring harness but my '77 F350 Camper Special which has the XLT trim and my '77 F150 4x4 both have this style plug over by the glove box. The first picture below has two wires into a single plug. Wires are like a light greenish in color. The heavier gauge green with yellow stripe wire goes to the lighter. Then there is the open plug smaller gauge wire that feeds my glove box light.
Thanks for the advice, but with the new FTE changes be a PITA, no way, no how would I try to upload a bunch of pics. I was going to take a pic like yours, but already put my glove box liner back in.
