everything I have is 2', the capacity of the gen-y 2' is 16k and the 2 1/2' is more than $100 more. so is is not a capcity issue.

Utilizing the 2 1/2 hitch of the reciever won't effect your ability to use the reducer for other accessories?
So if you are hung up on using the 2" accessories and/or WD hitch in the 2.5" holw why not just use the reducer from the OEM reciever in the 2.5" socket of the GenY hitch?

get one of those tow dolly things that have a hitch on it. it moves the hitch a few feet away from the truck and at the same time increases the tounge weight capabilities since the tow hitch dolly has tires of its own.

If $100 has him hung up with doing it correctly I can't imagine a $1500 dolly will be in the cards LOL.
