I think it looks like a jet fighter nose and wings, but have never read anything that gives an accurate description. Maybe the same guy designed it as designed the Edsel grille! Stu

Jim, looking at the close up of your truck and having seen it in person, I am amazed at how it looks now!

There is a 52 F2 with a 6 cylinder I had been picking in a local yard. The 6 cylinder emblem was in bad shape. I was surprised that it sold so quickly on eBay.

Abe, FTE's own Bob Jones worked on my front clip. He is responsible for the transformation that you see. I discovered 51 Panelman on line and contacted him about some parts he had for sale. He took an interest in my truck and asked for some pictures. He passed some of the pictures I sent him on to his friend, Bob jones. Out of the blue, Bob Jones contacted me. He too was interested in my truck and its story. Bob and I exchanged a few e-mails, and he ended up taking on the challenge of bringing my front clip back from the dead. I paid him of course, but not enough for the hours he put in, and the results he was able to achieve. Bob worked his magic back in 2014. There is no rust (yet) on the parts he worked on. I painted the front clip, and had it apart and put back together a few times.

Jim

P.S. Bob introduced me to FTE.

Wow, I never knew that! I know you are both from WI. Bob sure knows how to beat and shape old metal. Even if it is a manure spreader!

It would not be from a Mercury. All Canadian trucks, Fords and Mercs were V8 powered back then, so all header panels would have had holes for the V8 emblem for 51 or Mercury letters for 52. The 6 was not offered until much later.
