Gasket ?'s

Which head gasket should I use on my 300 with a 240 head? Fel Pro 525SD or HS8168PT? Intake and exhaust manifold gasket set MS901571? I am putting an Edelbrock aluminum intake and fuel injection exhaust manifolds on the engine when the head comes back from the machine shop. Thanks, Tim

The best performance head gasket is a FelPro #1024. It has a pre-flattened stainless O-ring embedded in the fire ring, promoting good sealing under high pressures. This may sound crazy but I do not think any gasket is needed on the EFI exhaust gaskets, much like many of the V8s that came from the Ford factory with no gasket. In the case of production trucks it was done to promote faster warm-up of the exhaust system to get quicker catalyst light off. I would use red silicone hi-temp sealer on the flanges. It might be a good idea to true up the surfaces on a belt sander or equivalent too.
