Good Day, I have removed my 6 freeze plugs with my 460 in my 85 F250. Wasn't easy but doable with some notching of the crossmember. Don't worry, I will weld back up when done. Now my real dilemma starts. I cannot pull motor do to my location and cannot get clearance enough to replace squarely. I even bought a rather expensive installer tool that was supposed to help, but it is useless. Any positive help would be appreciated. Snide remarks not so much. Thanks, RJ
Besides the rubber ones, I do not know what to tell you. I had the same problem, but the rubber ones would not hold in the engine I was working with, the water jacket was too shallow they would not go in very far and kept popping out. I ended up pulling the engine. I am glad I did, there was one hidden behind the bellhousing that was seeping and you have to pull the engine to replace that one. I do not know if the 460 has one back there or not.
In a pinch I have installed all block heaters to seal the holes until I had time to pull the engine and put the proper plugs in. Could you get a small hydraulic auto body cylinder (or similar) in to press them in place (https://www.harborfreight.com/10-ton...m-95979.html)? Also I have heard new plugs should be sealed (RTV?). Would unbolting the motor mounts and jacking the engine and trans up give you enough room to work?
