Wiring Gremlin

OK, 83 F150 with 302 AOD. My parking lights fuse continues to blow. Check the OHMS at the switch and all looks good. I took the dash apart trying to find a bad wire. I get them on and wiggle all of the wires both inside and out and no short. Drive it about a mile and the fuse blows. HELP.

So if it is the parking light fuse why did you pull the dash apart?
I would check the wiring from the fire wall on out to each light. Don't forget the harness that rt us down to frame to the rear lights.
Do you have a trailer light plug if so look there also.

The parking lights/side marker lamps/license plate illumination lamps/overhead cab marker lights (if equipped) all operate from the single, dark-brown wire that extends all around the truck. User-added trailer harnesses are a common place for your kind of problem to occur.

I took the dash apart because FORD in their wisdom ran the P/S light harness over the dash and out that side. The rears are OK, as I disconnected in the engine bay and the fuse still blew. I think it is isolated under the dash, but I cannot confirm if the cluster has anything to do with it.

I would start at the easy ends, the lights and work back to the firewall and then the hard part the dash.
When I had my truck apart I don't remember the dash part of the harness able to move much if at all.
I also think you can pull the dash pad to reach the harness going from 1 side to the other.

The top of the dash & harness is to the back of the seat.

Make sure what fuse is blowing. You have a fuse for the parking lights on the outside of the truck, and a smaller separate fuse for all the lights in the dash. If you have a problem in the dash, that fuse will blow and not kill the lights on the outside of the truck.
