find the short to ground dash lights and tail lights are on the same circuit if you have recently messed with anything start with your taillight wiring or trailer wiring you should have the gang connector for the taillights at the back left rear corner unde the box unplug it then try the dashlights if the fuse stays you know where to look for your short

A spot to look that is often overlooked for a short is, believe it or not, the licence plate light.

Mine are fixed, I removed all the old stereo wires. I am installing a new one soon. Looked like a bail of hay when i pulled it all out. That was a mess of wires. Gone now! Lights are not blowing fuses now. Good luck friend

Not to steal this thread, but do your AC/Heater controls light up? Mine don't and I can't get under there to see if it's supposed to have a light or not.

I have heard that a high % of auto fires are started by improper audio equipment installations.

You all know how a '78 dash is divided into three different parts? One for the gas gauge, the second for the speedometer, and the third for the oil and engine temp.? Well, all of my lights work except for the first section (the gas gauge section) and my Reverse lights.
