so my truck has a slight knock. Kinda sounds a little random and it doesn't get louder with the rpm. Like a rod knock normally would. I think it's an injector knock, but all the injectors spit out oil, so I'm kinda at a loss. Seems like it may be getting a little worse but hard to say I've only had the truck for about 1000 miles. I'd love to just slap injectors in it because I wanted to anyway, but I don't wanna put money into a bad truck at the same time. Sounds like some of the other injector knock videos. It's more noticeable in the cab. And it's like a kinda random things, very noticeable when under load at low rpm like backing up with no throttle or when I come up to a light and let off. I can kinda hear it driving but not noticeable for passengers.
If you have a STD:
Clutch ever changed? If not the dual mass flywheel is known to make knock noises. Remove inspection plate and maybe see if there is anything with too much slop in there.
I had a vette that knocked bad all the time and found it was an exhaust manifold leak after years of turning up the radio.
I don't know what fuel pressure I run? How could i? I don't have a scanner. It's a 1997 f250 but it has an electric fuel pump but not a full kit. It's dumb previous owner did it. I just changed the oil and filters btw
Some where there should be a port to measure fuel pressure or you will need to make a T for one
Hopefully the single mass is in there and not the issue.
I had a loose injector when did my o rings, cant hurt to check them but the valve covers are not that bad to take off once you know how to get the rear bolts out
" It's a 1997 f250 but it has an electric fuel pump but not a full kit. " You may have a fuel delivery problem . As Knottyrope stated you will need to get fuel pressure readings. I also think you can rule out the flywheel .

Mike, can you describe why it's not a full kit? Some kits are not as classy as others but they are still full kits. Any manufacture name on it or did PO make it himself? Any chance snapping a picture of the engine bay so we could see what you are dealing with?

like the og fuel pump is still there unhooked. And it's not like sinister I believe where it's pretty and in the front of the motor.

OK, I have to ask. Is the original fuel bowl still in place and being used? With the original fuel pump still in the block I don't know how one would get fuel to the rear heads, unless it was a hatchet job. Sorry, still can't visualize your current setup.
E-fuel requires the OEM fuel bowl removed, mechanical pump removed in the valley, external filter(s) and pump assembly mounted on the frame and of course a separate fuel regulator to return fuel to tanks. Is that what you have?

Unless he just took the banjo fitting off, removed the stock lines, and instead of putting a plug in there, he just left the pump.
I am also confused as to where the regulator is, where the filters are, etc.
It sounds like a cummins-boy had this truck before the OP.
He left the pump in. Disconnected it. And just ran an in-line pump in the fuel rail. Ghetto as ****. I am pretty sure it still runs through the fuel bowl as it's still there. I'm still learning these 7.3s. I'm a mechanic tho. Even worked for ford for a while. But I mostly work on gas. And in the 6 months that I worked there I never saw a 7.3 in for a problem lol. I have more experience on the newer diesels and we'll, this ain't nothing like a New diesel.
