Trying to get an old truck running better, new to me project rig. Went to check timing today and have found NO timing pointer. Looked all over on line and not much seems to be available for an inexpensive option. Does anyone have a recommendation ?
I found this: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/pfs-92009/reviews/ Professional Products Timing Pointer Ford FE Engines with 7.5" Damper
It shows compatible with older FE engines, will this fit on the 89 engine ?
(posted in engine forum yesterday and most recent reply to any thread there is over a week old, so I am trying here)
UPDATE 10-30-2018 I ORDERED THIS AND IT DOES NOT FIT BUT I FOUND SOME THAT DO SEE BELOW
You can use anything for a timing point.. a piece of solid wire for example. Clean and highlight the timing marks on the crank balancer, remove #1 spark plug and bring the piston up to TDC on the compression stroke. With this done wrap a piece of wire around a timing cover/water pump bolt and bend it into position marking TDC. Done.
