I strongly recommend that you don't give FORD any unnecessary reasons to deny warranty issues by useing ONLY their filters. If you've ever had a go around with them over this stuff you'll understand. There may be other options out there but it's just not worth it. Besides, I think their filters are pretty good too.
You didn't say what year / mileage or still under warrranty. If you are under warranty I agree with polarlys about OEM and if you aren't under warranty go with OEM anyway.
Buying the Motorcraft filters online has been competitive.
Why buy a off brand filter to save a dollar if that?
The motorcraft filters just have not been that expensive that I'm worried about finding a cheaper solution. Oil every 7500 and Air every 15,000 and I think you can go 25,000 on the fuel.
Motorcraft makes good fuel and air filters. Like said already, using a different filter only gives them something to blame other than the Ford. For that reason only, I use motorcraft oil filters. There are better options out there for the same price, and I’m not one to try to save two dollars on a filter. When it’s out if warranty, I’ll probably go with a Donaldson oil filter because in my opinion it is a better filter at pretty much the same price.
