Cool deal, thanks. Maybe they won't want a fortune for one.

I was bummed. I may go back and try looking again, but my setup is working and the lock is just a bonus item.

AbandonedBronco, you must have gotten that from Rich huh? The lock I found looks just like that, with the little spacer thing on the shackle and the little keyhole cover that swivels back and forth to expose the keyhole when its not protecting it from dirt. The locksmith said he didn't have any Ford keys that were one sided like that. I thought that was kind of odd that he wouldn't have a key that would fit a padlock. I mean, did Ford do something special when making these padlocks that would make them different than any other as far as function?
Bummer that you couldn't find it. They probably had it on their keychain and didn't leave it with the vehicle.
I wonder if you could find a blank online. I don't imagine Ford made those themselves. Probably just commissioned some lock company to make them and put their name on it. Maybe the picture of mine might help point him in the right direction?

As for who gave it to me, it was 1986F150six (David). I need to get a duplicate made, so I might look around too and see what I can find. If I find something, I'll let you know.

I read online that the lock was made by the same company that made the door and ignition sets : Hurd lock company.

If you google the part Number that NumberDummy gave you will find some older Ebay listings.

It looks as if they had been selling (maybe just asking price??) for the $20-30 range

Thanks for the tip but none of those places have any in stock. Just curious, what site are you using to search inventory?

Obsolete Reliable Parts shows one available, but who knows how often online pages are updated.

D8TZ-1386-A | RearCounter.com | 1 found at 1 seller

Funny enough, I went back to that yard to go get a printed circuit board off a 78 F-150 I've been sourcing for interior parts for the Bronco and for kicks went to go check on my stashed carrier with the lock and it was gone, the whole thing. lol I guess someone either wanted what I did or they just wanted the carrier or retaining hardware and cut the lock off. Oh well! It was a cool item, I'd hate for someone to just cut it off if it was salvageable regardless of who ended up with it.

With Oil/Amp GAUGES, the printed circuit board is the same: 1976/79 F100/350, 1978/79 Bronco, 1976/91 Econoline.

Nice find!

I realized that I have a plate / nut / j-bolt as shown in post #2 that I may be willing to let go of.
PM me if interested.

I know this is a thread resurrection but your profile says you aren't taking PM's. Do you still have a set of the retaining hardware that you would sell? I would be interested in a set.
