spare tire mount question

I did the search but can't find what I'm looking for.

I'm trying to find a part for the spare tire carrier. Mine came without and my spare is just flopping around in the bed until I get it fixed or it gets stolen.

I have the bracket and even then u shaped thing that screws onto the bolt that hangs down and secures the tire. What I don't have is whatever is between those that actually holds the rim.

Like a giant washer or bracket. I imagine it has to go through the center hole yet come out and hold the rim somehow.

Know what I mean? Sorry to explain it so sketchy.

Anyway if anyone knows a part number or idea of how to fix this it'd be great.

thanks,

C

Look on ebay. NPD and/or LMC has the spare tire carrier parts for the OEM carrier. The part that holds the tire inside the cradle is a long carriage bolt with a big plastic nut that goes on the top and fits inside the tire. Thats how it is on my 95. We used to have an 85 and I think it was the same way.

If you don't want it stolen. Get the T shaped deal that goes in the end of the cradle and hangs down with the U or J shaped bolt to allow a padlock.

I looked at NPD but didn't see a good picture. Here is one from LMC to give you an idea at least.

Well, I don't think it's the carriage bolt. Everything is there but the dish shaped thing. I'm not sure what it's called. Gonna try some breakers and junkyards. Might even go by the Ford place.

thanks for the reply,

C

Did you look at that link to LMC? There is a picture of the carrier. The round plastic deal that is #6 is what holds the tire to the carrier before the carrier is put back up against the gas tank.

Thanks guys. Now I know what I'm looking for. Gonna try a salvage yard today and see what I can find. If nothing then I'll order up from one of the links. If it's something I can get in my hand today then that's the way I'm gonna go.

1975/91 Econolines have the spare mounted inside, but use the exact same spare tire mounting (round) plate.

What about the "Center Bolt" that the mounting plate attaches to?

The Econoline spare tire bracket that mounts (vertically) inside, uses a J bolt that attaches to a bracket mounted on the quarter panel, then goes thru the wheel center, then the round plate (has a hole in its center) goes on, then a wing nut threads to the bolt.

The part number for the round plate that fits 1980 and later F100/350's underbed spare tire bracket was D5UZ-1424-A.

Due to a package quantity change in the late 1980's, D5UZ-1424-A was replaced by D5UZ-1424-B.

D5UZ-1424-B has now been replaced by 2C7Z-1424-BA.

The U in the prefix refers to Econolines, but as the parts catalog shows, Econoline parts were used on F Series trucks and vice versa.

Thanks Bill, why I asked is mine was missing the carriage bolt, wing nut, and the mounting plate.

Finding a carriage bolt and a wing nut shouldn't be too hard. Thanks!
