PHP did a rollback on my pcm and EBP is no longer inferred. When my EBP sensor failed it acted exactly like the op's. Watching vgt% and boost will tell you whether it's stuck vanes or a bad sensor.
Only the 03's and 04's with the 03 Engine (engine builds prior to Sept 29, 2003) had the inferred EBP strategy applied in the 06E17 action (2006 PCM flash update).
I know there is some debate on this (regarding an inferred stragegy on ALL 6.0L's), but clearly Ford manuals target the EBP sensor and plugged tube as potential causes of surging, etc. (turbo control related issues) in the late 04 and up model years.
Appreciate the clarification Mark. I remember that debate some time back and wondered if they did actually infer it for ALL engines.
I started looking after Razzi posted what he did. I found one write-up from a tune writer (maybe it was Bill at PHP) that indicated they all had inferred strategies now. That said, there are still clear indications that Ford still expects EBP sensor troubleshooting for turbo related problems on the later model years. I just can't believe that the EBP is no longer needed for them. Not saying it "can't be so", just that I would need to see more than one source and would need some hard evidence (and would need to see some Ford documentation on when that strategy was implemented for these later model years). I guess I am just a skeptic by nature.
I’m almost positive my EBP is not inferred due to the fact I have no MAF sensor. The wires are there but has a factory dead end plug installed. The way I see it you’ve got to have more than one variable to create boost MAP-MAF or MAP-EBP.
Was looking over things today and found a manifold leak. Passenger side. I did manage to take it for a spin. Still feels laggy... I'd didn't do it as bad as the other day but vgt did hit 15% . Pulled into the gas station in park and it was 85% from The time I went in to get gum backed out an about 2 truck lengths in drive before it went to 69% . Now it is straight pipe 4" turbo back. I believe Ron notes it may hit 85% because of that on some trucks. Guess I need to go after manifold and turbo cleaning .
Sorry for not updating you guys , ive been having issues with my back and yeah... Been taking it easy. So a very little exhaust leak on passenger side manifold and it is throwing code for ebp pressure as well. Not sure if I took a screenshot or not. From here I'm guessing , fix the leak , new ebp , and turbo cleaned.. I'm fighting other things on this truck (front end clunk ) it's been a chore to get anything done . We will stay on thread topic though. Suggestion for manufacturer on ebp ?

Did you ever confirm things in post #2?
EBP tube and sensor is clean? Don't go and buy one until you take yours off to see if it's just full of junk. If you do actually need one I would go with OEM or NAPA, don't buy el cheapo.
Also as mentioned check MAP hose, and of special note the nipple on the intake......they love to get gummed up and plugged. This affects boost as well.
Also the IAT2 sensor, it's in the intake but kind of a pain to get at. They do get gummed up as well, but that would be the last thing I would check.
Still suggest turbo cleaning as you said, yes.

No not yet, Well, i checked the connectors and such and all seemed tight and on. As far as inspecting no... its been slow moving around here and playing each day by ear with my back all jacked up. Ill try and get to it this weekend and will update with findings

No problem at all, sore back is the pits for sure.
Just didn't want you dropping the coin on a new EBP sensor before ruling out the easy stuff
