I have a 2007 F550 with a 6.0. I had the fuel pump changed at the very end of November along with 2 injectors. I haven't used th truck much since then at all since we do landscaping and I am located in the Northeast. I can't imagine it has more than 200 miles tops on it since then. Sent it out and it was fine for 3 days. Then it died out. It would start up and run for a minute or so then die again. I opened the fuel filter cap on top of the engine and the bowl was low on fuel. If you cycle the key on it does fill back up and will start again but once again dies out after a minute or so leaving little fuel in the bowl. I checked the sending unit to make sure there was no clog and it looks ok. A friend of mine who is a mechanic said it looks to him like it is sucking air as the fuel that is coming into the bowl when I cycle the key has bubbles in it. I didn't see it myself. I looked for leaks and found none. Any thoughts on what could be happening?
Do a bubble test, I bet an injector did not get installed correctly. Pull the engine fuel filter and cycle the key until the bowl is completely full. With the key off, take the starter solenoid wire by the passenger side fender near the blower motor and touch it to the + post of the battery. The starter will engage and crank over the engine. Crank for 5 - 10 seconds and watch for bubbles to come up from the center stand pipe in the fuel bowl. If it does pull the glow plugs 1 at a time until the bubbles stop, start with the 2 cylinders with new injectors. When the bubbles stop after pulling a glow plug that is your offending cylinder. Pull the injector and inspect the copper washer. If it looks good the injector may be bypassing internally. I have had Alliant remans do this with only 5 mi on them. Good luck.
