You should go after the PO and get your money back, the truck needs a motor now so it's not worth any more than scrap value which I'm sure is less than what you paid.
If you don't do that, you can't change the heads with the motor in the truck so you'll be puling it out anyway, and if you go that far may as well swap in another. If you do that look for a newer one with the PI heads, by all means have it checked out before installing it but I would not take the heads off unless the plugs are a problem... and they should not be on those heads. What could be a problem are the exhaust manifold studs, these break and cause exhaust leaks and those can't be changed with the motor in a van so that would be the time to refresh them.
I was thinking about trying to go after him. I live in Nevada and there are no such laws/legal ways to go about it. Lol so I’m kind of screwed. As soon as we signed the bill of sale it’s all mine and nothin I can do about it.
i have another question for you all, anyone have any experience with the CalVan inserts? half the price of time serts.. from doing searching they have pretty good reviews overall. i decided im going to buy a used engine, and go through it, pull heads, have them cleaned and inspected, and time sert the spark plug holes to avoid future issues.
