I want some ideas... wanting to make it out of stainless steel (yes I can tig weld) would a double snorkel design ( 5 inch base tube witg 4 inch copes on each side runing it facings forward so air runs into it ) better then a single (5 nch base with down 4 inch reducer then running it where air hits right in it )I want opinions
Yea I've that he did an amazing job... perhaps you must of not understood what I was asking lol I was talking about just have the stock intake and instead of the nasty big ugly air cleaner I thought replacing it with a ram air design with two snorkels that run into the intake
Bad drawing but i hope you see what my idea is lol
I highly doubt you will gain much. If you want to do it, it doesnt matter, because that is what ya want.
Otherwise you might look into a dodge 318 cold air intake kit, and build your own. from what I have heard the 318 has the same intake boss as an idi, and you can make your own cold air intake from there. just food for thought.

There will be no drop in EGT over the factory cold air intake. If you need busy work go ahead, but I'd wager there are other things you can do to your truck to actually make tangible improvements.
Also, no need to reinvent the wheel, off the shelf parts should work fine. There are dozens or hundreds of options available that will work fine if you're not looking for a specific fit for a turbo or intercooler.

You mean the diameter of the bottom of the stock IDI air cleaner happens to be the same as the gasoline Dodge 318 air cleaner?
FWIW, I've read that aftermarket style air cleaners really increase the noise level of an IDI. Truthfully, I don't know if this would be a bad thing. I like the "clackity clack" of the IDI, but intake or exhaust noise might drown that out if you have the wrong air cleaner or exhaust.
