Thumbs up heater core

I was flabbergasted many years ago to find this @ a local Auto Parts store. I had no idea that new cores for vehicles as old as mine were still made. Back then I only paid about $30.00 for it. I looked it up just before posting.

Here ya go I bought this for my 60 O'Reilly auto parts. $25 Tubes were a little short, so I opened up firewall and fed hoses into heater box. Works perfect.

That's the one that O'reilly carries. $26.99!! I just got off the phone with them. The stock no. has changed but, if you give them 398001, they will cross reference it for the new no. I had the same problem w/ the short tubes but, easy to deal with. I've had mine since 2012 w/ no problems. Back then it was only $22.99!! Time to go. Gotta get that ifs bolted to the frame!

This is all good news. I was getting worried. Mine isn’t leaking yet it’s been sitting for over ten years so I definitely want s new one.

If it was empty for all those years, my guess is that the core is probably in fair shape! If there was water or coolant in, well it's a crap shoot.

resurrecting an old thread.. .but... I checked at local O'Reilly's and found they have in stock the Murray heater core part # 94700... this was also on the label above... what I don't understand (and I haven't purchased it yet) is why the tubes would be short.. .here is the image from their webpage... is this not what's in the box?

Glad to hear they still show it. I actually found it using a paper radiator manual they had on the shelf. The core is thinner than original, maybe a row less, and they included foam to put around the edges of the heater box to make up the difference. I put mine in about 5yrs ago, but if I remember right, the tubes were shorter than the original when sitting next to each other. It might be a universal fit for other applications, or maybe I put it in the box wrong. All I know is that it throws heat when I need it. And for the price, I'm happy
