headers

Hi Guys, anyone know if a stock stainless exhaust header from a '79-'93 302, will fit a 302 in a '56 F-100? Ya know, starter clearances, pwr. steering (Toyota Conv.) ETC. If it's done in anyone's ride I'd love to see some pics.

I went thru the same scenario as you. They wouldn't work. I ended up buying the block hugger shorty's from speedway motor's. They fit, and clear everything very nicely. Good luck!

I am a big fan of the Sanderson FF2 headers for my SBF applications. I have them on the 302 in my 56 F100 and the 351W in my 40 coupe.
Lots of clearance for clunky Volare steering box, starter, and motor mounts.

I'm getting ready to order some headers and was afraid I was going to have to modify something to work around the rack and pinion steering set-up I'm using. This looks like it might work. Have you seen it done with these headers? I was pretty disappointed about not being able to run a long tube, but that looks really clean and effective.

Here are the same headers on my 40 Ford with a 351W...
The R&P sits way forward and is far less of an issue than the Volare box.

Grant,
How does your inner fender clear those lines on top of the frame rail?

They'll Certainly be modified, both side's. I'll also be adding a heat shield for the p/s hoses, and maybe some header wrap.
