Cam Removal Help

Trying to pull the cam out. Decided to go with a new one and new bearings. I can get the cam pulled out its bearings but it will not go through the others. It’s kinda like the bearings have a edge that will not let it pass though. Has anyone had this problem? N ot sure if i need to out some sand paper on it. But if im going with new, what difference does it make. Right? Any suggestion? Thanks for all the help. LEE

Slide hammer with a small chain and bolt into the cam. Go slow. Motor will need tearing down to install new cam bearings btw.

Work it out by keeping it centered and turning it, do not force it.

And keep it level with respect to the block.

You'll have to slightly rotate it, and ensure the bearing journal on cam lines up with the next cam bearing in the block. Take your time. As was mentioned above, you will need to fully tear down the motor to replace the cam bearings. My machine shop I use locally won't touch them unless block is extremely clean (IE. been vatted/tanked already)

Yes engine is completely torn down. Tried to wiggle and turn it out but it just will not come out. Since its getting a new cam and bearings, time to get the slide hammer out. Might try a little sand paper around the edges first. Thanks for the help. LEE
