Intermittent fuel cooler reservoir puke from vent tube

What would cause intermittent coolant puke from fuel cooler reservoir vent tube? Only seems to happen when i tow my 8000lb travel trailer. I dont drive it hard towing and i keep it at 60mph and keep max boost around 35 when going up grades. Could the fuel cooler pump be going bad? The truck is not throwing out any codes. Is the slight puking normal? Anybody else have this issue? The truck is dpf and cat deleted 4 inch turbo back exhaust with egr coolers blocked off and only running a 70hp tow tune.

the cooler has a small resivor that uses a 20psi cap....cap may be bad.

also, this system has no recovery...so as the coolant expands and drains out, when it cools there’s no coolant to pull back in....so eventually you wind up with a lot of air.

excessive air lowers the systrm’s Psi and as a result...lots of foaming due to bubbles

this escapes thru the cap drain taking coolant with it

cycle repeats

get a new cap and keep the coolant a the correct level using the eye indicator on the side of the assembly.

Thats why i love this forum!!! Spent hours on the internet trying to find info about the fuel cooler reservoir to no prevail, not much info on it. Thanks speakerfritz this may actually be the problem , looked at the cap and the rubber seal on the cap is toast. I will order a new cap tomorrow and hopefully that solves the problem. One more question is do i only fill half way to sight glass or all the way up to the top? As of now i have been keeping it at half level of the sight glass.

For future reference for people its half way in the sight glass. Going to make it a good practice maintnance issue to look at when im changing the fuel/oil filters on truck to make sure the level is toppped off. Hopefully bringing up this thread with speakerfritz's input will help somebody prevent a fried fuel cooler electric pump.

Paid $10 a rockauto for a Motorcraft one for mine. Personally would change the overflow cap out as well. Read they fail quite often. I think I got that for $6 for the same place.

Another thing to check and or do...is clean/de grease your fuel cooler rad....well any and all rads up front....you'd be surprised at the grime that builds up in these and reduces cooling efficiency.
