Been doing some research about getting better gas mileage. Currently have a 73 F350 SCS with 4:10 gears in back. I've searched the forum and saw a bit of competitive dialogue about putting in a newer auto trans, but saw a new GV unit on Ebay for $1200. Think price has dropped since the earlier comments were read from my search. I would appreciate input from members who may have gone this route after now even higher gas prices and, perhaps, more installations. Any comments on this are welcomed. Appeared torque converter on C6 limits how much benefits can be gained. Much thanks....Roger
I've been running the same setup for years and I love it. OD shift are tighter than dick's hat band. I would skip "E"bay and go to the factory or someone like Summitt Racing online. I'm considering changing my rear ratio to 3.70 or so. My engine is highly modified and the tires aren't all that tall so I get a lot of road noise and more rpm than I like at 75/85 mph. They put this unit in dump trucks so it's really tuff. It's been a while but I would think you could get it for under $1500.
