1980 f150 dash lights won’t work.
I recently bought a 1980 f150 and I can’t get the dash lights to work when I bought it the blinkers worked and the lights on the dash for the blinkers worked and so did the high beam light and the brake light but none of the illumination lights worked but I had to go out of town for work for three days and when I got back the blinkers don’t work anymore but my four ways do which is maybe connected to the problem I have no idea but I took the cluster out and checked all the lights so I could go buy replacement ones. But when I put it all back together nothing works at all now and from looking at it everything looks connected. I just want to be able to see how fast I’m going at night.

I'm going to start with the basics...
1) Have you twisted the headlight **** all the way to the right? The dash lights are dimmable, controlled by that ****.
2) The fuse? The dash lights have their own 5A fuse.
1980 is a one-year-wonder concerning wiring, and the locations in the fuse box are different than 1981-86.
The dash illumination lights are the Light Blue/Red-stripe wire and is a separate circuit from the BRAKE light, HIGH BEAM light, everything else.
Concerning the L/R blinkers, try jiggling the key switch; that spring wears out and/or the linkage sticks and the key won't necessarily fully spring back to RUN from the START position. When the blinkers don't work, do the other key-on accessories ALSO not work? Radio, wipers, heater fan, for example. None of that stuff will work if the key switch isn't in the correct position - but the 4-way emergency flashers will work regardless.
