Ok so I recently bought my fathers used 2011 f250 6.2 L V8.
Gas gauge went out about 6 months ago. It was his back up truck so he just clocked mileage. When you first turn key it shoots to full then drops to empty immediately.
However it sat for a few months, now that I have it; I changed the oil and did a tune up. Checked all fuel related fuses.
Now; day one full day driving no issues. Few days later I go to fill up and the gas pump keeps shutting off after just a few gallons. I know it’s near empty.
So today it cranks but won’t turn over.
Im assuming it’s all related to fuel somehow but where do I start?
Yes that exactly. Tries to turn on but won’t. However I let it cool off all night and it started right up today.
So the vent vent even though it will run 100’s or miles once it’s on? Makes sense I was thinking sending unit since the gas gauge is out but the pump is obviously working.
No problem. Please note there is an edit button for your post, you can fix the typos for about a month IIRC. I do it all the time with my posts.
And yes, make sure the electrical system (batteries, big cables, and grounds) are good. There are other things that could cause your problem, but always good to start with these basic items.
And welcome to FTE!

I can, but generally don't unless the fail is egregious. Then I have to say something. It is not just spelling, either. I still try to be nice when doing it.

Welcome to FTE to you too!
Please start a new thread rather than jumping into an unrelated problem.
Well 500.00 later it’s fixed. Fuel pump AND clogged line to that back canister.
Dropped the tank and the fuel pump and sending unit were both fried. Also had a small crack in a fuel line.
Magically replacing the fuel line and the pump; as well as cleaning that vent tube it’s all working again. Thank y’all so much. It’s greatly appreciated!
