Has anyone else had issues with their customer mounted trailer back up camera?
I am as frustrated as I can be. I ordered the customer mounted trailer back up camera system with my 2017 Super Duty. I paid a professional to install it. The truck will not recognized the camera. When I push the "aux" button, it just sows a camera with a line through it.
The dealer is trying to tell me that the "back up assist" feature has to be enabled in order for the trailer mounted camera to work. I might also add that they originally told me that Ford did not offer such a camera. I do not believe that because they appear to be two totally independent systems, as well as the fact that installation videos and owners manual say nothing to that effect.
Can anyone give me any contact info for someone at Ford that either knows what they are talking about or would be able to help me get this camera to operational status?
Is the connection into the back of the camera itself secure? When I installed mine it seemed like it had clicked into place but didn’t work. I tried again and then it clicked further and came on after.
Shotnin in the dark there but I hope it works for you.
Mine's still in the box! Something I really thought I would use but NOPE! I pull a small trailer behind my 5th wheel and would love to be able to see it traveling down the road but the way this thing is made you have to be in reverse=useless to me. The last place I'm looking when backing up doubles is at my screen in the center of the dash. I should've done more research before ordering this option on my truck! My dealer didn't know these cameras existed either back when the trucks first showed up and only 1 tech in the place went to the training and knew how to change the plug in the truck and give me the box with all the camera/TPMS for the trailer. Everyone else looked at me like I was crazy. The TPMS is only for 4 tires (mine has 6 + the 2 on the rear trailer is 8) so again-useless to me. Will not be ordering this option on the next one! Wish you the best of luck!
