I’m buying a new 2017 F150 with the 2.7 Ecoboost. I don’t know a lot about these engines. Are there any know problems and anything extra for maintenance? I’m going from a F250 with a 6.2 down to the 2.7. This should be interesting.
I have a '17 2.7 SC 4x4 XL with a few nice options. Power wise, it's great.
BUT, for '18 the 2.7 gets port injection in addition to direct injection. This will reduce any issues with the valve deposits. As a bonus, torque swells to 400. And you get the 10 speed. (I like the 6 speed just fine btw)
For those 2 reasons, if I was shopping today I would try my best to go '18.
Since you are buying a newer truck within warranty, cut your best deal. Then shop the internet (I don't have any links right now) and buy the Ford ESP warranty out as far as you can see yourself owning the truck.
