Clarify for me

OK, I am looking at a new 2018 SD to tow a fifth wheel toyhauler. Looking at a F350, single rear tires, Lariat trim, diesel, 3.31 rear end if possible. Could somebody clarify what my hitch pin load max would be? Looking at a couple different Grand Design M series toyhaulers but not really sure what the max load on the truck would be. I do not want to go to the Dually, I will downsize the trailer first.
Thanks

I aam undecided short bed or long bed... seems like 200 lbs difference in capacity? Not sure I am reading the charts right

Maximum pin weight = (truck payload) - (people and cargo weight). Payload varies according to how the truck is optioned. The best way to determine it is to look at the yellow sticker in the drivers door jamb. It’s really that simple. Keep in mind that most would assume 20-25% of trailer GVWR on the pin YMMV.

The payload on my 17 F350 srw is 3497.
The 200 pound difference is because the longbed is heavier.

Longbed gets a 48 gallon tank, shortbed gets a 34 (iirc) gallon tank.

There is a 55 gallon aftermarket replacement tank for the shortbed if that is a factor.

5th wheels pulled with shortbeds do have some issues to consider when backing up a trailer - might need a sliding hitch. Longbeds are a little harder to park when daily driven. Not impossible but the extra length does make a difference in tight parking lots.

I have a 3.55 truck and a 3.31 truck. The mileage is about the same, but to get a 3.31 you can't option the 20" wheels.
Overall the ratios are so close it's hard to notice much difference, I would suggest the 3.55 if you're planning on pulling super heavy or installing much bigger tires.

Lots of good folks and info over on the Grand Design Owners Forum too..... (GD Owners' Form) Probably someone with first hand experience that already has exactly what you are looking for. I've got 310GK Solitude on the way and figure I'll get close to max for my new F350, SRW, SB.
