Engine build sugestions

I am headed for 400k on my 7.3 excursion. I am trying to plan ahead for a engine build. I want to build a forged internal motor and hope to find a builder in driving distance from me. I am in the lowcountry of South Carolina. Any suggestions you have had personal experience with? Rod

I don't know of anyone down there.

But, with 400k on the rig, I would grab a lower mileage unit and just change it out and keep yours for spare parts.

Might be a strong heart, but is the body worth the fresh organ?

Just input.

Denny

Thanks. I kept my truck on great shape. It is in better shape than it was at 100k when I bought it. It is set up the way I really want it now. I am running stage 1.5’s with a 369SXE. I am ready to go on up in HP so need forged internals next.

The question is important dependent on build date.

The earlier 7.3's had forged if I'm not mistaken. But still on the fence about putting a ton of money into it.

Weigh it out.

Year model 2001 was the "cut line" between PMR and forged rods. Some of the '01 had forged rods in the transition to PMR's that were left over from the original "test runs".

I can offer no help on find a builder and wish you the best of luck. Maybe get in touch with PHP in Atlanta and see if they know of someone in your neck of the woods. DP Tuner may be able to offer a hand as well.

On a side note, any pictures of the SXE setup and what did you go with for the T4 kit?

Sorry for just seeing this. I can grab some pictures of the 369 set up. I got full T4 mount key and turbo from Jody at DP tuner. If I remember right Jody didn’t have a suggestion on builder. I am hopefully going to talk to him tomorrow on another subject and will ask again. The 369 is probably the best upgrade I have ever done. It spools fast after 3-4 PSI. I have a 1.0 housing on it but seriously thinking about trying a .91 to speed up low end spool.

If I remember correctly, there was a machine shop in Pendergrass, GA that Bill (of PHP) used for a 7.3L that he and I put together for a customer of his. It's the engine that is in a black dually that is the star of a few of PHP's YouTube videos. I can't remember the name, but they did a beautiful job on the block!

That would be great. Some of us have taken an interest in T4/BW kits as of late.
