so started the truck this morning and could hear a funny ticking noise. Upon opening the hood I could hear it better and placing my hand on the driver side spark plug 2nd from the front I could feel it tapping. What’s the fix for this?
I don't recall if you stated before, has the engine been rebuilt with hardened valve seats? If not it could be a sticking valve. You might try some Marvel Mystry Oil or Seafoam. It could be a weak or broken spring, You'll need to open the valve cover and look. Worst case- Maybe time for a valve job.

I was told that the PO had pulled the engine and had it looked at and then had it put back together. It’s the original 302. But he made no mention of doing any work to it when it was apart.
Sorry, I was thinking it was an FE engine. Don't worry about needing hard valve seats in a 302. But it still could be a bad spring or a rocker arm retaining nut has loosen some. The last 302 that I owned had nylock nuts on the rocker arms. I had to replace them if I messed with them, because the would loosen up after a day or two. But I could have use Locktite if I had thought of it. But I was only 17 back then.
Well it was a dumb issue. Buddy helped do a tuneup and the noise was a spark plug that was loose. Tightened that and it went away. Went ahead and did some Sea-Foam just as a preventative.
Did you give a shock treatment with the Seafoam or added it to the gas? It'll loosen the carbon in the heads and pistons and hopefully blow it out the exhaust before it fouls the plugs.
