I assume that is the correct break point on the cowl for the two tone? Looks like you would see color if you look straight down between the hood and cowl.
VERY NICE, Vandy23!
Please share what is your carb/air cleaner setup - it appears to me to be a single carb, but you have two wing nuts on the top of the air cleaner ???
Nice looking trucks gentlemen!!! I appreciate them all. Here are a couple finish pic's for Boss9F100....sorry they're not engine shots as in the spirit of this thread....

This is a one carb set up. I purchased it from classic blue performance found on eBay. They have really nice stuff!

paint break exactly how it was delivered. Each plant did it slightly different and maybe this was changed up being a sales promotional truck.
this was a Dallas built truck very early production

How do you know it was a sales promotional truck? Not very early production really. October 1965. 3rd month of production. Your's was the last 5M paint in my own list so all the others I have in my list were built prior to yours.

I am really stuck on the look of your truck without the exterior trim, I bought a complete new set awhile back but I can’t get past how sharp yours looks with the paint break on the body line so I may have to follow your lead......
Al:
whether or not you eventually use your trim, I’m flattered that you like the truck so well! Thank you. A bold, but simple look was what I was aiming for....
Dan:
I think there are some places that still do yellow cad. There is a subtle difference between zinc dichromate and yellow cad, but I can't recall what it is. I think dichromate is more shiny. I think that Valley Plating there in Van Nuys has the descriptions and options on their website...and, you may be right, the original yellow plating was cadminum. Probably before OSHA came along!! On the other hand, I wasn't really concerned with the original finish, I just wanted a consistent and clean look on all fasteners. I have done some with black oxide in the past but found that they weren't very rust resistant unless you clear coat them. The zinc dichromate is supposed to be considerably more resistant to rust and corrosion....
Back in the day when I worked at an electroplating shop, we had the Cadmium and the Zinc tanks in the same corner of the shop with the gold chromate and the bright chromate dips, which were used interchangeably. The zinc was for sure a bit shinier. We used the cadmium for industrial applications and the zinc for consumer goods. Man, I wish I still had access to those facilities! we had probably 20 different surface treatments to choose from. My truck would have so much more bling, in a tasteful way.
