Homemade Cab Braces?

I am posting this here as well as my main thread to catch those that don’t follow it.

I am hoping to start on the cab swap this weekend which means new front cab braces and the sheet metal above them. The rust on the floor is just in the corners so I am going to fabricate my own pieces. I found a picture of new cab braces on another thread and was wondering if anyone else has made their own. I have metal, tools, and a welder and this is a ratrod so I’m not worried about the underside looking original. Is there any functional reason the braces are shaped the way they are?

I’ve searched for threads but all I find are pictures of factory looking replacements. If you have any input, threads, or pictures, please share.

The braces in your picture look nice. Do you know who is making them?

I seem to remember people saying the aftermarket ones didn't fit well and needed modifications. A member here made his own, sorry don't recall his name or the post but I kept copies of these pictures.

I saw these before and I searched hi and low for them again with no luck. Thanks. Pretty much what I am thinking though I have flat metal that I'll cut and glue together.

That was my plan too. I'm too old and not well enough to take it on now..

I've done a lot of stuff like that but nowdays seems like kind of a waste of time to keep from buying $10 worth of rectangular tubing. I'd use $10 worth of grinding wheels to make it look pretty, lol.

I didn't build the entire floor braces but I did rebuild the originals. They were still fine on the shallower portion toward the inside of the truck but the deeper section was rotted away. I bent and cut up some 12g stuff and gave them new life. They came out very stout. A bit of messing around but I was still working at the time and did a lot of the work there during lunch and breaks. I may have extended a rest period of two!
