Odd behavior part of recall?

I am still new to my 2016 F-150. I thought I knew about how the doors lock and unlock until yesterday. I was washing the truck with the keyfob in my pocket. I heard a click. I did not see what caused it, so I continued washing. I heard it again. Still, nothing to be seen. Then I was washing the passengers side window and heard the click and saw the door lock. A second later it unlocked. Weirdest thing I have ever seen.

Is this part of that recall I was reading about?

The buttons on your remote were being pushed by stuff in you pocket as you were moving. I’ve had it happen to me. The panic button was hit while I was in the act of sitting down on the couch. I could faintly hear the horn honking out in my shop. Took a few seconds to realize what cuased it. I really wish I had a regular key with a smaller fob.

Definitely possible. Nothing else in the pocket, but I guess the keys themselves could have contacted the buttons.

What is happening is that the fob in your pocket is close enough to the truck to allow you to unlock the door by placing your hand behind the door handle, but the water cascading down the door is fooling the proximity sensor and the door is locking and unlocking. I experienced the same thing and I keep my fob on a belt loop with a carabiner, so the buttons are not being pushed. The solution is 1) to not have the key fob on your person or inside the vehicle while washing the truck; 2) don't wash the truck; 3) have some one else wash the truck while you supervise from a chair 20 feet away.

Lol.....it`s fun learning about these trucks and no, what you experienced while washing your truck has nothing to do with the recall.

I also have a 2016 Lariat with Intelligent Access just like you.

As others have mentioned, one of two things are happening.

The button on the key fob in your pocket is being pushed while you`re washing your truck or you`re getting close to the sensor behind the door handle which unlocks the door or you`re touching the black button on the door handle which locks the door.

Could also be a squirrel nearby with an identical key fob and he's messing with you. It happens

I just had an anxiety attack thinking of someone else washing my truck. I'd let them wash the wife before I let them touch the truck. And I'm not even into weird stuff and I love her too......

I now understand about having the key on me and getting my hand next to the door handle. Can someone explain why it was locking on its own?

Also, please explain one other thing. When I walk away from the truck with the fob in my pocket should the doors automatically lock?

Mine has “keyless” entry, if the fob is in close proximity while washing the truck, even the soap / water will cause the doors to lock and unlock, has done it since day one. My wife’s SUV is the same way.

It does act weird sometimes.

A couple of days ago I was reaching to push the black button on the handle to lock my doors but before I even touched the button, it locked.

It`s a proximity sensor that`s very sensitive.

I can't do that with mine. There's absolutely no way I could ever lock my fob in the truck and forget about it. The horn beeps twice and the truck unlocks. I imagine there's an over ride for that using forscan but it really doesn't bother me. Also, the only button that ever seems to get hit when the fob is in my pocket is the panic button. I hate when that happens.
