I ran Motorcraft when my HPOP died which may have just been a weak point anyway but I still changed to synthetic. It’s not a daily driver so it’s not like I’m doing ten oil changes a year.
For those super spread out deltas you can remove the oil cooler cap and stick a 3/4” OD hose in there and backflush it to hopefully regain some cooling capacity.
I find it REALLY hard to believe any engine crapped out after a bit longer interval...even the 6.0. It would be interesting to see how the extended interval hurt the 6.0

I don’t know, ask Razzi (toreador diesel) about that.

Maybe he will chime in. Sometimes oil gets too much credit. Other times, not enough.

Not that I recommend it, but I have extended my oil change somewhat. I have averaged 7k OCI for the last 63k miles. My max OCI was 7.5k miles. Haven't seen an issue yet.
My average viscosity has been 66.3 SUS or 12 cSt. The 40 wt standard begins at 68 SUS or 12.5 cSt. So it did sheer, but not significantly into the 30 wt range (56.5 to 68 SUS OR 9.3 to 12.49 cStokes). So, after 7k miles, my 5W40 oil viscosity is pretty much where new 10W30 oil begins.

Since the EGR is technically an emissions component I don't want to risk it, I'd hate to have them cancel the warranty on me. With everything new, fresh coolant and a coolant filter I'm not overly concerned with having the EGR in place. For the stupid Photobucket issue, Google "photbucket hotlink fix Firefox" (if you don't run Firefox replace that word with whatever browser you run) and you can download a free patch that takes less than 2 minutes to install so photos will display.

I've watched a few of Ron's videos, very informative from what I've seen. Didn't realize he had passed away, that's a bummer to hear.
As for powerstrokehelp Bill... all I'm gonna say is "change yer HPOP oil for increased longevity!"

Totally makes sense on the warranty thing. Thanks for the help on the Photobucket thing. I'll figure it out with the link you gave me. And yeah, LOL....ol' bill is the running joke around here. It WAS a real bummer rthat Ron passed. It was unexpected and very tough for the family from what I understand. I guess that goes without saying.
