What are some good recommendations for new positive cables? My truck is now giving me issues and not getting power to the starter and I broke one of the lead prongs you tighten down on the battery post trying to get it off to take that short piece that attaches to the starter jumper in the fender.
I would prefer the kitchen ready to go in. I don't have a problem making my own usually, but I simply don't have the time with my move and other projects, so I basically need something ready to go that matches the factory. I would prefer not to buy cheap crap, but $400 for dealer cables seems kind of steep.
That's basically exactly what I'm looking for. I sent them an email and will possibly end up ordering from them depending on their response. Thanks for the tip!
Bought mine at Oreileys couple years back, they had two types I got the heavier set, they are as heavy as the ones that were on it.Dont rember how much, but not too much.
So I ordered them today. I paid for the rush service and then shipping on top of that. My phkne didnt work so I ordered off of somebody at work's phone becahse I had to order by 10 am AZ time fof my order to get processed today. I thought it was weird it said AZ time so when I got home I called on another phone and they are local to me and not very far. So he said he would refund the shipping and he's going to deliver it to me. 3 minutes after getting off the phone, I has the refund botice. Assuming these cables are the right ones, this is outstanding customer service. I highly recommend dealing with him. Great suggestion Hit man.
I have enough vehicles where I am probably going to buy parts from that guy and produce some myself. My grounds are where I plan to start.
Keep us posted on the install.
I'm kind of wondering now if that was just the cable attaching both positive ends together and not all of it from the starter to both batteries. It says 21". But the price being as high as it is, that's more than double what it is as parts store, so I'm assuming it's the whole assembly.
So an update in case anybody is interested. I got the new cables in from the place Hitman provided a link for. They are pretty buff and very hard to bend and move around. The hardest part was routing the wire from battery to battery. But removal of the old positive cable assembly and installing the new one was maybe 45 minutes. I'm sick and moving slow so I probably could have shaved 15 minutes off of that or more.
My truck started faster than it's ever started too. I have 2 interstate batteries, one a year old the other a few days ago, so that helps as well. These guys delivered the cables to me, but I'm local to the area and it wasn't too much of an inconvenience for them.
I highly recommend going to them. $146 for everything you need to install the positive cable. The battery to battery cable, the battery to starter cable, and the short jumper from battery to that starter jumper in the fender well. The set labeled 1987-1997 is the one I bought. If I made this myself I'm sure I would have saved money. BUT to have to go around collecting the good quality wiring, the fittings, and the soldering work, this I feel is a very reasonable price. Especially considering if you buy the AutoZone/O Reilies crap you will spend between 50-75 bucks and it won't be near the quality as these are. I have the military ends and can add other stuff later with easy without cutting and splicing as well (note on our setup they only do the military ends).
All in all, without a doubt I'd do business with them again. In fact, I'm going to get the negative cables from them as well. They are half the price as the positive cables.
