7.3 excursion died not cps?
My excursion has 115k no chip, ais filter and hutchmod. Stock except for that. I replaced the fuel filter last Sunday, passenger fuel line 3 weeks ago. Icp sensor maybe 2 months ago. It cranks but will not start. No sputter or smoke.
On Monday It died on my wife after driving maybe 30-40 miles after filter change. I had cycled key on off a few times and started it after changing the filter on Sunday. Since then I have replaced cps, ipr, disconnected icp. It shows no codes. Fuel pressure ko was 60psi. I gutted the stand pipe in fuel bowl. I have an extra fpr kit and considered servicing it but my fuel pressure was fine.
Ok it's been brought to my attention that it may be a pats thing. An excursion thing. The theft light does not flash fast. But I hear a click from fuse box area once the starter begins to spin and once it stops. I don't hear this in my non pats 2003 7.3 work truck. Has anyone experienced a no start on their 7.3 excursion and found that it was the pats system?
1. Turn the key on, but do not attempt to start the vehicle.
2. Wait for the theft light to quit flashing rapidly. This should take about 45 seconds, after which the THEFT light will flash multiple times about every 3 seconds.
3. Turn the key off and remove the key from the ignition for 30 seconds.
4. Insert the key and turn the ignition to the ON position.
5. The THEFT light should illuminate for about 5 seconds and then go out.
6. Continue to start the vehicle normally.
Have you checked the fuses? The heater in your fuel bowl can blow a fuse and keep your truck from starting...That happened to me once.
Re-trace your all your steps, when I first got my 7.3, it would randomly surge after starting, and sometimes not start. In my case It was simply a matter of replacing some of the pigtail plugs for some of the various sensors, some sensors too. ICP, EOT, EOP, and CPS, Ect. Especially the EOT, that was the sole reason my engine was surging.
