E4OD Computer Issues?
Trying to sort out an E4OD issue. I've got a recently rebuilt (less that a year and 3,000 miles) E4OD on a '93 F-250 7.3 idi. Ever since getting new batteries I've noticed:
1. Odd tach response. the tach will say the idle is 400-500 RPMs. When accelerating while cold at low throttle effort it seems to increase RPMs/shift correctly. When warm/heavy throttle it goes to about 2000-2100 RPMs and stays about there, with a drop of only 50 or so RPMs when shifting or locking the TC.
2. Torque Converter seems to be locking too early, at about 30 MPH (I believe it is supposed to be 35 MPH?)
3. Shifting can be slightly less that smooth when warm/on hills. There is a barely perceptible stutter in the shift (my passengers don't notice). Not a big deal, but it used to be perfect.
I've replaced the TPS, and Tach sensor. The TPS has been adjusted multiple time to positions between 1.05 to 1.2 and nothing seems to help.
Any ideas? Can the TCM computer act faulty without failing completely?
