Hey all, I have a 93 F250 7.3 non turbo E4OD 4x4 that is making me regret buying a truck with a slushbox in it.
My problem is whenever you put it in gear it grabs like it wants to go. Both forward and reverse. The OD cancel light doesnt come on at all, not even with OD off. No blinks either. The tach doesnt register till its reved up either.
I replaced the MLPS a few days ago and corrected some shifting problems. I installed a transgo hd2 shift kit today along with a new filter. It didnt help or correct it.
bnate ,welcome to FTE and the idi forum
have it sounds like you need a tach sensor the part number is E5TZ-17B384-A they run around $50.i believe i got mine from rockauto.have you calibrated the mlps?

ditto to what this guy said. You need a working tach.
OD light not working turned out to be the light itself. Got that fixed, it doesnt blink or anything. Set FIPL at 1.08V and 3.99V, the only code that came up when I scanned it was for the FIPL being out of range. Relay, diode, and all fuses are good. I cleaned the tach sensor and fixed the exposed wires and the tach doesnt work any better, but I don't have the 50 dollars to get a new sensor at the moment. At this point I doubt it is the tach sensor anyway, I get the feeling I need a solenoid pack.
if the tach sensor had bare wires it is done for re-taping them wont do anything.i would bet dollars to donuts it is the tach sensor.i just went through the same thing earlier this summer.i finally ponied up and ordered a sensor took me 5 minutes to swap it and she was right as rain

No.. but cutting one lead, then using small heat shrink tube, slide it on one wire and shove it down inside to separater the 2 wires may. Re solder the wires using more heat shrink to cover the joint and shrink both pieces in place.......
Worked for me for many year..... but eventually the sensor will leak a little oil out the top.
I was able to find the sensor at another place here locally, but it was cheaper to get it from Ford. Believe I payed 86 bucks for mine, and the other place wanted $112
Tach sensor is fixed, 8 bucks at the local u-pull salvage yard. No change.
Talked to the guy at the good local tranny shop, he says the pump is probably worn out not making enough pressure to keep the tcc from applying. I just cant see that in 72K miles. I have a spare tranny I can swap stuff from.
