E4OD early lock-up E250

I have a 1990 E250, 5.8, E4OD, 55k. Shifts fine when cold, when warm or hot 1-2 shift it will shift into 2nd, then immediatly goes into lockup mode, causing a bogging effect, and stays in lockup to 3rd, then bounces in and out of lockup. At light throttle I can get the trans to shift normal when hot. Any suggestions as what to address? I pull a travel trailer and this is a real pain.

E4OD early lock-up E250

I also would sure like to know what causes this. My Bronco has done the same thing for the last 30k miles, sucks the power right out of it. I should have changed the torque convertor when I had the motor out.

I've gone as far as flush the trans and change the TPS, but did not solve the problem. Probabally a bad solenoid in the valve body?

E4OD early lock-up E250

I'm quoting straight from a document in my E4OD zip file:

Normal E4OD Operation:

"Early model E4OD's are capable of Lock Up right after 2nd gear. If you are unhappy with vehicle's performance because of LU condition, you will have to update the computer to fix it."

That being said, I'm not sure how one would go about updating the computer other than to replace it. I've heard of several guys using an add-on transmission command which allows them to control when the shifts occur.
