These new trucks are tall - I really think it will need step bars! I didn't order the retracting steps because I like the protection from door dings the permanent ones provide. I am trying to decide on what step bars to install when I receive my ordered ccsb F250 Lariat. Would love to see some pictures of what you guys are installed.
I just have the stock step that came on my truck. I like them better than the round step bars that came on my 2012 because the raised rubber ribs allow me to actually wipe the bottoms of my shoes off (for the most part) whereas the 2012 style was pretty much smooth rubber surface.
The steps don't really offer any protection from door dings because the doors curve out and the curve of most other doors is above the steps on our trucks.
After with the F150 boards
Instead of buying the F150 brackets to raise my stock steps, I went online and found a set of F150 OEM takeoffs (identical to the Super Duty) for a little over $200. Bolted them up and sold my Super Duty boards and made money! I like how they tuck up closer to the truck, the originals hang down pretty low.
I had Amp Research power boards on my last truck and I will get them again on my next (I'm between vehicles right now) They are expensive but you can't beat the look pretty much unnoticeable when tucked up and extend when you open the door. They operate much faster than the factory Ford boards as well.
