I have the OBDlink MX and LX and models. The MX is supposed to be able to read more protocols. They both come with their own software for use with Windows. I've had both working good with Torque using Bluetooth. I did use the MX and the Forscan software to program new keys. I'm not sure if you could do this with the cheaper version of the OBD adapters. The money I saved by not taking the Ex to the dealer for new key and programming more than paid for the $80 ODBlink MX. I didn't want to chance something going wrong.
One thing that I questioned when making the purchase is if you are planning on leaving in the OBD adaoter even when the vehicle is off. I'm not sure how the cheaper versions handle any kind of power saver mode or auto shutoff. ODBlink models have the auto sleep and wake feature.
I leave my Veepeak Mini Bluetooth OBD2 OBD II Scanner Car Engine Code Reader plugged in all the time. I will admit I wonder if there are more items that could be displayed. And the "Engine Load" seems to be around 20% even at idle. I do need to enter more info in the vehicle profile to activate the HP item.
