Cobra IRS

I understand the Thunderbird, Cougar, and Mark VIII cars have a good swap platform for the IRS on my 68, but is there any information of putting a Cobra IRS in. I know the mounts are different and control arm length is different, but overall is it any wider hub to hub? I've found a good unit complete with axels for 300$

Not sure on the mounting points. I would think width would be similar. What year cobra? The 03-04 are better units then the 99-01 cars. If it's from an 03-04 you stole it for that price!! They usually go for $1000-1500! You may want to look into updating to after market bushings while it's apart.

i was in the jy that i use the most the other day. i see a Thunderbird Turbo Coupe . and it has the irs still in it. it,s even been stacked up so you can get to it easily. i need to go back to see how much they want for it. of course my 5x5.5 Cragar SS will not come any where near fitting. might have run adapters.

Ya the mounting points are definitely in a different spot. I ended up getting a Mark VIII setup for a good deal so I’m thinking of still getting the cobra one also to change out the gear set axles and hubs.
I was in the forums the other day and saw someone who did some coil overs on the rear IRS. Does anybody know who that was. I can’t seem to find the post.

Try going back a couple of days (Pages at the top right of the main page), you may see the post.

I don't know about the cobra, but I'm currently working on installing a 2017 Mustang IRS in my 71. Documenting the build on Youtube...
