I noticed the site has the old plastic style locking hubs. I sent off an email to Guzzle asking about the newer aluminum locking hubs and he said he hasn't torn them down. Has anyone torn these down yet to know if they are basically the same thing as the old plastic ones?

I think you just volunteered! I didn't realize Ford changed hubs, must have been when they switched to the coil sprung front end in 05?
Yes 05-up trucks have a different hub. There supposed to be more reliable but both of mine were frozen in 10,000 miles so go figure. Anyway, I too would like to see someone do a complete rebuild like Guzzle did for the older trucks. Too be honest though, I've decided that when I either need ball joints or new unit bearings I'm going to bite the bullet and spend the money on a free spin hub kit from Dynatrac.
Whats that setup cost $1900.00
and whats benefit?
Serviceable bearings
Yup, thats what it cost. But considering the unti bearing, hub locks, and other factory parts fail on a Superduty on a regular basis I figure spend the money one time and be done. As stated, I will only do this modification once I need to spend big money regardless and the truck is out of warranty. And yes, you get serviceable bearings and quality hubs.
Has there really been a problem with the 05-up hubs/bearings? I haven't heard much about that. Ball joints neither.
That's mostly the leaf-sprung front-end.
And "spin free" doesn't matter, the hubs are completely separated from the axles during normal use.
And if you ask me, $1900 buys a lot of factory-type parts over time.
No doubt $1900 buy's lots of FoMoCo parts. But I like the old school set-up better. Anyway, that bridge will be crossed at a much later date so I'll start saving my pennies now.
