This truck is the ONLY truck that I've ever owned that UPSHIFTS while going UP a hill ...
Well I know that when I'm not towing it's nice to use the transmission (and engine brake) rather then traditional brakes. Really is that simple. I know I know yer just a proud SD owner. What about FORD PASS. You against starting your rig on a cold February morning as your plane is landing. Another option that the SD will likely have next year. The new SD rollout will likely follow the other ford products. Just my opinion and prediction.

Hate making my first forum post on this subject. I know I'm likely in the minority, however the center console shifter is one of the 2 things I really miss from my '12 F150. All the other cars I drive are manual's. Therefore when I get in the SD, my hand always naturally falls to the center console for gear selection. Shift on the column reminds me of my grandmothers station wagon from the '70's, lol.
I personally prefer the split bench to the console. How's your girl supposed to sit next to you???
I do feel the console shifter is more "car like", thats why I think it would be a good fit for the Limited.
If I'm not mistaken, the only differences between the Platinum and Limited are interior colors/materials and lighted door sill plates (which were on the '17 Platinum and can be retrofitted to the '18 Platinums). Just my opinion, but the console shifter would be a nice mechanical difference between the Limited and the Platinum.

I’m just happy I have the Center console. I’m a creature of habit losing the shifter and gaining a spot for one bourbon one scotch and one beer.....of course a XL coffee lol.
A console shifter would simply decrease the amount of usable space and storage in the console/vehicle. Trade USABLE storage and space for a "cool" shifter? Nah.
I like the console shifter in my wife's F-150, it's definitely sportier but appreciate the extra storage space in my super duty's console due to the column shifter.

And when Ford releases Ford SmartLink, you'll be able to add all the same functionality of Sync Connect to most/all 2010+ Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles. This is NOT the same as the older Ford Remote Access application an hardware, BTW. It will be a ODBII dongle with the modem built in.
I installed the Remote Access (hardware) and used it on my last truck. I still have all the modem and COULD add it to my '17 PSD if I wanted, but honestly (and to answer your question) - no, I don't need to be able to start my truck while my plane lands. I never really used it when I had it on my last truck.
