I have never understood the point of console shift, just steals a bunch of room that could be used for something else. Leave it to the half tons.
im not sure I understand your logic WRT leaving it in a F-150 vs in the new SD. It’s the same interior. their all trucks. Their all used as work and play and even some as a grocery getter. I’m waiting on the new 2018 F-350 and turned down a 2017 as I didn’t want a bench seat. I prefer to have as many controls and items close at hand. Although no shifter it keeps the drinks closer. BTW have you seen the storage available in the console. It holds 12 of your favourite caned refreshing beverages. Just my opinion. If I want my wife closer we’ll there is always the back seats. Have you also seen the space back there. I bet ther is a lot of new generation SD owners that are happy that space came from the F-150.
Im not bashing the SD. I’m very excited to be an expectant owner. Just thin the more choices we have the happier we’ll all be.
Bill.
Rims Plus in Lafayette Louisiana has done this and also sells a plug and play harness that allows you to install this without cutting any wires on your truck.

I would never want a center console shifter on my Super Duty. It steals so much usable space. You miss out on cup holder capacity.
This is aftermarket product looks really good though.
I will stick with my rather rare and totally flexible front bench configuration.
And when Ford releases Ford SmartLink, you'll be able to add all the same functionality of Sync Connect to most/all 2010+ Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles. This is NOT the same as the older Ford Remote Access application an hardware, BTW. It will be a ODBII dongle with the modem built in.
I installed the Remote Access (hardware) and used it on my last truck. I still have all the modem and COULD add it to my '17 PSD if I wanted, but honestly (and to answer your question) - no, I don't need to be able to start my truck while my plane lands. I never really used it when I had it on my last truck.
I am planning on adding the console to my XLT, and yes, I would like to add the console shifter (F150 console). Does anyone know if "Rims Plus" is the only place offering a plug & play option?
Their website is quite lacking, so short of calling them to inquire....I just find it odd that a wheel repair shop would be doing this with console shifters...

I am the owner of Rims Plus and we dont just do wheel repairs. We do alot of other auto accessories but our main source of business is wheel repairs. The whole reason this was done is because i bought a new f250 and missed the center console shifter from my f150 i traded in. I also seen a long time ago that plain and simple had done a center console shift which they only posted once with no info which made me want to do it to mine. After loooooonggg hours of research about which parts are needed and how to make a wiring harness that i could just plug in i went for it and it was successful. Ive sold around 11 or so wiring harnesses already and they have all had success doing the conversion with it. Oh and yes my website is a bit lacking but who uses websites anymore anyways haha you can check out facebook or instagtram tho. If you need any help just message me on one of those platforms and ill be glad to help. Thanks, Duston

Thanks, nice to "meet" you! I did send a pricing inquiry on your facebook page earlier...hopefully I can find a console soon for a decent price.
Agreed, the manual shifting on the column is a pain.
Fortunately with the 6.7L you never need it
My first truck had a manual transmission with a column mounted shifter. I didn't think anything of it at the time. But it wouldn't be ideal for a 6-speed.
IMO, The SD's are real trucks hence no need for car like features, i.e. console shifter and Yes, the 150 series to me is car like. No comparison.
I hope you have a base model XL with manual windows and locks then. Everything else is just car-like features...
The console shifter is much easier to use (I've slipped my truck into the wrong 'gear' several times now)
The console shifter is much more comfortable for resting my hand on longer trips. I'm used to a manual truck with a stick to rest my hand on.
It's a talking point with other SD owners...

Everyone has their own opinion. IMO, a real truck has the shifter going through the floor. Automatic transmission feels like a car.
Pity that Ford discontinued manual transmissions. If they had the option of a console shifter for the SD, I would have gotten one. At least it would have been closer to where the manual shift would have been.
'Course, I wouldn't mind not having a transmission at all, go electric - motors incorporated in all four wheel hubs. But that is some years down the road for Ford.
I have the console just want to do the shifter, don’t do Facebook so waiting to hear back from Dustin on what is involved if you already have the console. Think it would be just the shifter and column trim and there plug and play harness.
I love the look of the center console, but its got to be a lot of parts to convert it?
Your best bet is to find a complete unit from a junkyard or auto salvage company. Piecing one together going by part numbers is a royal pain and will get very costly...
